a sleep over

It is school holidays here in Vic at the moment and last night our "old" next door neighbours came for a sleep over. These children are so gorgeous I could eat them. Bess is the youngest of the 4 and the only girl and if anyone says nurture wins over nature I beg to disagree! She is the girliest girl even though her big brothers treat her as if she is one of the boys. Pink is her favorite colour and she bought along a bag full of "babies". Archie came armed with power rangers and Lewis and Ali came with news of the football and that they had been on TV at the Collingwood training session. It truly was a delight to see them and of course Kate their mum too.

I do have 3 daughters

Mitali has been busy making some quilts from a couple of the Kaffe Fassett books. I just love the second one "Jiggery Pokery"

Karen....our gadget girl....has made the mid west modern pillow in silks. We had a great Sunday sew along and Michelle gave the girls some tips on perfecting this cushion. Tina provided the lunch which was amazing, Louise bought some yummy ice cream and we all had a glass of bubbles and a really nice day.

This is baby Nancy, the guide dog puppy who comes in with her mummy Di. Boy has she grown!
Di has designed a great range of Christmas stitchery's which we will have instore and on the website soon.
and this is for Amanda!! I do have 3 daughters!! Everyone knows Meg and Lucy my number 1 and 3 daughters who work in the store but no one knows my number 2 daughter Abby. Well here she is with her gorgeous friend Eli. The girls were having a shopping day ( Abby's favourite past time) and called in for lunch.

Retreat at Lancefield.

I have 2 places available at our retreat. This is a rare opportunity as it books out from year to year, but 2 of the regulars cannot make it this time. It is from Thurs Sept 30 - Sunday Oct 3. If you would like info about it email me (don't ring the store as the girls wont have the information)

rockin robin

We are going to have a bit of a mystery challenge. All the crew here are joining me in making a quilt. I have made the centre block and I will now pass it on to the next talented staffer who will add their border, and so on.
If you would like to join us on the journey just email us at amitie@amitie.com.au and we will send you the patterns as a pdf. These will be free but we can also provide the fabric if desired but the girls here will use some from their stash no doubt. As we all have different styles and preferred methods it will be lots of fun and you will get some great tips, some will handpiece, some machine and there may be a bit of applique from Gina I suspect. I will post the photos on the blog and profile each member as we go along. It should be heaps of fun.

childrens quilts

This fabulous number was made by Tina for a little person who loves Mr Men. A mixture of applique, embroidery and some 9 patch blocks.

These quilts were made by the children at a local kindergarten as a fund raiser. A great idea....each child picked pre cut shapes and arranged them and decorated them. A very clever mummy sewed them and then made quilts to auction on the night. Things have progressed since my children were at kinder. I got smelly ( not in a good way) soap from the fundraiser stall and had to bake dozens of cakes!!

piece o' cake

One may think the weekend was about food, but really the piece o' cake I am referring to is Becky Goldsmith. Carol did bring this fab cake to class and Annie bought slices and biscuits and Tina bought some greek delights........and so it goes

Becky showed off some great quilts

It was quite hi tech at times

and the talk on colour was interesting although she didn't mention that she was so good at camouflage!!
