projects

We've constantly got the most beautiful projects walking in and out the door here at Amitie - it's so lovely to see so many different creative people with so many different ideas. It can be a little hard to keep up, and more often than not we're so overwhelmed by the beauty of these things that grabbing the camera slips our mind.

I was away on the weekend. Yes, lucky enough to be away on another Lancefield retreat. I can't share with you what I was working on, as I am keeping it hush hush until it's published but here's a few snaps (some taken on my iPhone so please excuse the quality) of what others were working on.

Catherine had her lovely feathered stars.

These blocks are just beautiful - even from the back.

Catherine has a lovely eye for colour, here's a sneak peak of her next project. Yum, yum, yum!

Deb was busy with a Don't Look Now pattern.

And Aileen was working on a lovely purple braid.

Cathy from Cabbage Quilts joined us this retreat. She was working on a beautiful Kim McLean pattern. Love the pieced background!

This fun and bright log cabin belonged to the lovely Rebecca.

The weekend was a great success and I hope everybody who came had a fantastic time.

Recently Sue and Jan popped in to visit us at Amitie and I was quite taken by the tiny stars they'd both been working on.

And Jenny S from my class has tackled Pickle Dish, and is hand quilting for the first time!

Until next time, happy stitching.

update

Life has been a bit of a whirlwind since returning from the states. So much to catch up on around the store at Amitie, and then there was a few family things too but I have managed to get some sewing done... what bliss!

I've been working on another project for a publication. Due date is looming, so this has taken up a lot of my time! I'm not sure if I can show you the whole project but I thought a few sneak peaks might be nice.
Ever wondered what to do with all your thinner, long scraps. This will be the one for you!

To all those Gypsy Wife BOMers.
I am so sorry for the delay. Breaking my shoulder really slowed me down, but I am now working hard to get this quilt finished. No, I haven't forgotten you! I thought instead of sending you blocks from the part I have completed, I would wait so that you get a chance to see the final product.

For those who have forgotten what this quilt looks like or haven't seen it yet and would like to, here you go:

Giving back

We love all the comments left on the blogs here at Amitie, so we thought we'd do a little give away on a recent post. Yes, you read right... a recent post. You can't enter for this give away, because the winners have already been drawn and they picked themselves!

On the post Quilt Market (read HERE), I asked what's your favourite colour and the following lovely ladies commented.
Kathryn, Andi, Bronwyn, Tania, Chookyblue, Fuffi, Kylie C, Marg M, Jenny M, Susie and Lisa.

You have all won a fat 16th bundle in your favourite colour!
To claim your prize please e-mail Lucy at amitie@amitie.com.au your address and she'll get it to you ASAP (it might also be a good idea to remind her what colour you'd love as some of you listed a few/all colours).

Sue Spargo 2012

Market is over, and it's been nice to have some time off and do a little stitching while the George R Brown Convention centre prepares for Festival.
It's been a fantastic market for many reasons but one that stands out so clearly in my mind is catching up with my dear friend, Sue Spargo.
Sue has confirmed she's coming back to teach in August 2012. She will be coming to Amitie to teach her beautiful ways of embellishment once again and I cannot wait!

If you'd like to be added to an expression of interest list, please send an EMAIL to amitie@amitie.com.au. Subject line: Sue Spargo 2012 expression of interest.

We've also ordered Sue's new ribbons which should be in store soon!

Lucy went for a walk today to check out the Houston Aquarium. She'll be posting about it soon so check it out at www.amitiegirl.blogspot.com

the trouble with having a day off...

You have to chase one of your daughters around the local shopping centre.

This picture doesn't do it justice... this kid can shop!

more from market

A few snaps from some of the familar faces at Market 2011.

Amy Butler's new range 'Lark' is lovely and her booth didn't disappoint.

Amy's husband David is a familiar face at market but this time he's launched his own fabric under the name Parson Gray. This range is beautiful and will be in store at Amitie come release date!

Anna Maria's Lou Lou Thi range was a real hit with us, and her velveteens from this range are no different. I had to drag Lucy out of this booth, I think she would have happily touched everything there!
