Green Tea and Sweet Beans

After a decent wait I am so excited to announce that it's finally here!
This was my very first, original Jen Kingwell block of the month. I love this quilt and am so proud of this pattern booklet.

It's been a lot of hard work. A big thank-you to Simon, Tamara, Allan and Lucy for helping me get this project together and making it look so beautiful!
I'd also like to thank all who encouraged me to turn  this block of the month into a pattern.

If you'd like a copy of this quilt pattern, the cost is $25 AUD.
We also have a limited number of starter kits that have a lot of fabrics in it that feature in the original quilt (including the newspaper and text backgrounds). These starter kits are $125 AUD.

If you'd like to order please e-mail Lucy at amitie@amitie.com.au OR call the store on +61 3 9596 7225

THANKS,
Jen Kingwell

Superstars

We're amazed at how quickly the support has been rolling in for the Star Charity Quilt.

Amanda T dropped off her lovely bright block with checkerboard middle

And Erica posted in her beautiful, more traditional block.

We're welcoming any block you wish to create as long as it's the right size and in the colours specified in the blog post below.
Thank you all for supporting. Can't wait to see what other blocks appear!

A Charitable Act

One of our lovely customers, Mel, works tirelessly raising money for the Somaly Mam Foundation in Cambodia and we would love to help! It's a very worth while cause.

The Somaly Mam Foundation is a nonprofit charity committed to ending modern day slavery and empowering its survivors as part of the solution.
Human trafficking, a multi-billion dollar industry, is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world. With over two million women and children sold into sexual slavery each year, it is a global crisis that must be stopped. More resources are critically needed to support the rescue and rehabilitation of these young victims.
Co-founded by sexual slavery survivor, Somaly Mam, the Foundation works to eradicate human trafficking, liberate its victims, and empower survivors so they can create and sustain lives of dignity. The Foundation supports survivor rescue, shelter, and rehabilitation programs in Southeast Asia, where the trafficking of women and girls, some as young as five, is widespread.
(Description taken from http://www.somaly.org/)

As a woman and a mother of 3 girls this is something that I deeply connect with.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
Well we thought we'd stick to what we know and make a quilt to be auctioned or raffled off at Melbourne's official
Somaly Mam Foundation launch party.

WANT TO GET INVOLVED?
Make a 9" star block. Any star you like, just have to be 9" finished and in pinks, reds and/or oranges.
If you wish to use a background colour please make it white based.

(Example block. Please remember; any star and feel free to use prints!)

Post your block to us at 103a Gardenvale Rd, Gardenvale VIC 3185 BEFORE SEPT 8TH.

We will construct the blocks into a quilt.
Jenny Carmichael the Bayside Quilter has offered to machine quilt the project for us so we can hand over a finished, beautiful quilt to the foundation!

Happy Stitching!

Housekeeping

Just a bit of a blog post to catch you up on some Amitie related subjects.

I have a lot of new quilt patterns coming out soon. I am still in the finishing off stages and Lucy is currently getting the patterns organised for you so stay tuned!

You've probably read about it on Lucy's blog but we have a new look to our website, and I think it's a lot easier for customers to use. Lucy thinks that it's easier to load onto as well so this means we'll be able to load new product for all our not-so-local customers to see!

All the new Liberty of London is online, and today we finished loading our range of solid colour voiles and also our range of Flea Market Fancy (what's left of it)!

We've also added a sale section to the website where we will be putting discounted stock occasionally. We've decided to sell of some of our cute novelty prints at $15.00 per meter to celebrate our new website!
We're no longer offering free postage on online sales, but we strive to keep our postage and handling fees as low as possible. This means we'll be able to offer more online sales so it's not all bad news!

Now, an update on our Stash Club and Liberty Addicts. We've received lots of e-mails asking if you're still able to join and the answer is OF COURSE! This is an ongoing club, so you can sign up at any time! It just means you may have missed the first mail out, but you'll get the next one and so on!
Stash Club happens every second month, so the next mail out is in August.

Liberty Addicts happens 4 times a year, and even though the we only mailed out the first every Liberty Addicts mail out last month we're already planning the next one!

I've saved the most exciting news for last.
It's been a long journey to this point but I am so excited to say it's at the printers.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend.
